ACell Supportive Injection
ACell Supportive Injection Therapy works to preserve and thicken hair in patients who are genetically predisposed to hair loss. As a non-surgical solution, the ACell Supportive injection procedure is a short 90 minute visit with limited down time. Unlike prescription medications or topical applications that must be used as part of an ongoing daily routine, ACell Supportive Therapy does not require daily maintenance.
Non-Surgical Hair Restoration
Most hair loss is hereditary. Genetic signals cause hair follicle stem cells to gradually slow down resulting in shorter, finer hairs in the affected areas of the scalp. Non-surgical hair restoration therapies can stop hair loss and improve hair growth by stimulating dormant hair follicles stem cells with target specific proteins called Growth Factors. Sources include Supportive, Extra-Cellular Matrix (ACell) and Adipose Derived Stem Cells.
What is Supportive?
Supportive, or Supportive, is a concentration derived from your own blood – a rich source of specialized proteins called Growth Factors that stimulate stem cell activity in dormant hair follicles for up to 3-4 months.
What is ACell?
ACell’s MatriStem technology (an FDA approved medical device) works at the cellular level to repair and remodel damaged tissues. ACell has a broad range of medical and surgical applications, and is a naturally occurring protein complex found in skin and other tissues. When injected into the scalp, ACell activates dormant follicular stem cells for up to 18-24 months. Note: ACell is not an FDA approved treatment for hair loss.
What are Stem Cells?
Stem cells are present in all body tissues and are responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of those parts. Specifically, these are referre to as Adult Stem Cells because they are specific to their tissue location (unlike Embryonic Stem Cells which have the ability to form any kind of tissue).
When tissue is damaged, adult stem cells become activated and recruit GF other cell types to the area and tissue regeneration begins. In the case of genetic hair loss, there is not tissue damage, only a gradual de-activation of follicular stem cells. This process causes a steady decline in hair quantity and quality.
Why ACell Supportive?
Early intervention is best. Men and women over the age of 18 who are early in the progression of their hair loss benefit the most from ACell Supportive therapy. Regular treatments with ACell Supportive keeps more hair on your head by protecting targeted hair follicles from starting the miniaturization process and renewing those that have already started to decline.
Early Intervention with ACell Supportive
ACell + Supportive Injections help combat the physical trait of hair loss. This procedure offers an opportunity to do something to slow and even stop hair thinning before needing to repeat the process or take further steps toward restoration.
The goal with treating genetic hair loss early is to maintain hair for as long as possible, improve density, and keep the results for months and years to come, pushing back against the need for more aggressive solutions until further down the road.
ACell Supportive Procedures
The process of an ACell + Supportive procedure starts with acquiring a blood sample from the patient. Then local anesthetic is applied to the scalp and the injections are administered once the patient is completely numb. The process takes about 90 minutes and recovery is quick, with a sore scalp lasting about 48 hours.
